SO EASILY CONFUSED

Conversations with Monkey Boy often confuse me. This evening, I sat with him at the table to make sure he was staying on task with his spelling words. We came to the word black and Monkey Boy said, "Seriously?"

"That was one of your spelling words last year. You know this word!" I said.

"Seriously...black," he sighed and then continued, "They are so [insert air quotes] naive."

I stopped for a moment. "I don't understand your statement."

He looked at me sympathetically, patted my shoulder and said, "Of course you don't, Mother."
